2018 Opening Breakfast Photos

Did you know there are post-game gatherings after every game? They are usually casual, drop-in refreshment stops. However, the first one is a Meet and Greet, following our first game. The teams are new; the players are new. The League will provide the nachos at this one.

Rule Changes
The completed 2018 Handbook will be available shortly. Rule changes for this year are described under Rules/Updates.

The Executive also acted on some interesting suggestions from last year’s Survey:
Carded umpires will be hired for two of the five games each week;
Play on Wednesdays will be confined to make-up games and our tournament;
Each week, we’ll play three games at 9:30 and two at 11 o’clock, and
4-Pitch – A batter will receive up to four pitches, without regard to strikes, fouls, etc.
(That’s a rule, but you’ll need to know it to avoid embarrassment.)

New Game on Mondays
A new co-ed Slo-Pitch activity will be available for seniors on Mondays.
While it is not part of our League, it will appeal to some members.
They will be regular recreational games, and will be self-umpired by the
teams, with balls and strikes, etc. Interested? For all the details,
contact David Fox foxball@rogers.com

Sponsor Lunches
Throughout the season we organize a visit to each of our restaurant sponsors on game day. The sponsors make a significant contribution to our summer fun. Some of that happens when we visit their establishments. Please consider joining your fellow players and other League participants for some of these events. About a week in advance, let your Team Captain know you'll be attending. We encourage you to visit our sponsors at other times and let them know that you are from our league.
The RA Fieldhouse gives us a percentage back of what we spend so please remember to let them know that you are with our league whenever you go there. Tell your server that Steve Kelly sent you.

Batting Practice
There is batting practice every Thursday morning at 9:30 at Hampton Park. Our first date will depend on access to the City’s diamonds. Thanks to Gary Fleming for coordinating BP Thursdays.

Home Runs
The Homerun trophy is awarded for the most HRs hit over the fence during the regular season. Make sure your scorekeeper/captain reports yours, each game.

In case of rain an email will be sent out on gameday morning by 8:00. Please show up at the RA if you haven't heard anything either from the league or your Captain. It may be raining at your house but not at the RA. Games that have been rained out are normally played on Wednesday if the diamonds are available.

Email Communication
Email is the primary communication method of the league. If you are not getting email notices, or if you know of anyone who should be getting them, please let the league know. ottawa60plusslopitch@gmail.com
